Yokohama Arena

Yokohama Arena is situated in the Shin-Yokohama area of Kohoku Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is approximately a five-minute walk from Shin-Yokohama Station, served by JR lines and the Yokohama Municipal Subway. Opened in 1989, the arena is operated by Yokohama Arena Co., Ltd. Modeled after New York's Madison Square Garden, it is a versatile indoor arena designed for various events. With a maximum capacity of around 17,000, the venue features a circular layout. The seating arrangement can be flexibly configured for all-seated events or a combination of seated stands and a standing floor area, offering clear sightlines from most sections. It is a premier venue for major concerts and has hosted numerous renowned domestic and international artists. The arena is equipped with a professional sound system suitable for diverse productions, and its stage specifications support large-scale touring shows.

Yokohama Arena (横浜アリーナ) opened in April 1989 in the Shin-Yokohama district, operated by the Yokohama-based Yokohama Arena Co. Capacity reaches approximately 17,000 in full concert configuration. For three and a half decades the arena has served as one of Kanto's essential mid-to-large concert venues, hosting hundreds of events annually from J-pop to K-pop, classical, sports, and corporate events.

Concert configurations typically partition into arena floor blocks (standing or reserved), 1st-floor stands, and 2nd-floor upper stands, with center-stage setups possible for tour-final in-the-round productions. Japanese idol groups (Arashi, AKB48, Nogizaka46, and many K-pop acts) have historically used Yokohama Arena for Tokyo-area tour dates given its 10,000-plus capacity and strong operations experience for fan-priority seating logistics.

Access: JR Shin-Yokohama Station — 5-minute walk via the north exit underground passage. Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line Shin-Yokohama Station is 5 minutes. From Tokyo Station, Tokaido Shinkansen reaches Shin-Yokohama in about 18 minutes; JR Yokohama Line transfers from Yokohama in 10 minutes. Last Tokaido Shinkansen service runs until around 22:45, so Tokyo-based attendees often use JR Yokohama Line + local lines home.
