How TIXVOY works
Sendai Sun Plaza is a key multi-purpose venue located in Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Opened in 1993, the complex integrates a hotel with a performance hall and is adjacent to the underground JR Tsutsujigaoka Station, offering convenient access. The venue centers around a three-story circular hall with a capacity of approximately 2,700, commonly used for concerts and sporting events. Its mid-sized scale is well-suited for intimate to medium-sized performances, typically featuring fixed seating that provides clear sightlines and acoustics tailored for live music. As a prominent venue in the Tohoku region, it has hosted numerous concerts by both domestic and international artists, serving as a cultural hub for the area. The compact structure also supports conference and event functions, ensuring a comfortable experience for attendees.
Sendai Sunplaza Hall sits on the east side of Sendai''s central railway corridor in Tsutsujigaoka, part of a hotel-and-hall complex modelled on the Sun Palace brand also operated in Fukuoka and Tachikawa. Opened in 1991, the 2,710-seat main hall is Tohoku''s dominant mid-size concert room and the region''s first call for J-pop, K-pop and classical tours that bypass Sendai Kahoku Shimpo Hall or fall short of the Sekisui Heim Super Arena''s 7,000-seat capacity. Its single sloped bowl with two balcony wings and a compact forestage keeps the upper balcony close to the action, a configuration many touring production managers prefer over the older Sendai Izumity 21. Access is a fifteen-minute walk from JR Sendai Station''s East Exit or a two-minute walk from JR Senseki Line''s Tsutsujigaoka Station; the shuttle from Sendai Station''s east concourse runs during major shows. The attached hotel — Sendai Sunplaza Annex — is a popular post-concert lodging choice because the last Shinkansen back to Tokyo typically departs Sendai around 22:00, making overnight stays the realistic option for touring fans.
