Shimane Arts Center Grand Toit

The Shimane Prefectural Arts and Cultural Center "Grand Toit" is located in Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture. This complex, which opened in 2005 and is operated by the prefecture, houses both a museum and a performance venue. The main performance space is the Shimane Prefectural Iwami Art Theater, a mid-sized concert hall with a capacity of approximately 1,200. The hall features a traditional shoebox design, renowned for its excellent acoustics, making it suitable for classical concerts, recitals, and medium-scale stage productions. The seating is arranged on two levels—the main floor and a balcony—with mostly fixed seats offering clear sightlines. As a key cultural hub in western Shimane, it hosts a variety of concerts, theatrical performances, and artistic events. The building's distinctive exterior is clad in local Sekishu roof tiles, creating a recognizable architectural landmark.
