About Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra
The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra traces its roots to a boys’ band founded in Nagoya in 1911. It moved to Tokyo in 1938 and began operating independently under its present name in 1948, performing symphonic, operatic and ballet repertoire.
