Tatsuya Shimono

Tatsuya Shimono is a Japanese conductor born in Kagoshima in 1969. He studied music at Kagoshima University and conducting at the Toho Gakuen conducting school, then became the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra’s first Conducting Fellow in 1997. He won First Prize at the Tokyo International Music Competition for Conducting in 2000 and the Grand Prix at the Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors in 2001, leading to engagements with orchestras in Japan and abroad.
