Kazushi Ono

Kazushi Ono is a Japanese conductor whose leadership posts have included music director of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and Zagreb Philharmonic, principal conductor of Tokyo Philharmonic, general music director of the Badisches Staatstheater, music director of La Monnaie and principal conductor of Opéra de Lyon. Winner of the Toscanini International Conducting Competition in 1987, he has worked with major opera houses and orchestras across Europe, the United States and Japan. He is artistic director of opera at the New National Theatre Tokyo, music director of Brussels Philharmonic and artistic adviser to the TMSO, becoming its conductor laureate from the 2028 season.
