About Hayato Kodama
Hayato Kodama is a Japanese trumpet player born in Kushiro, Hokkaido, in 2009. They began playing cornet at five and took up serious trumpet study at nine. In 2024, Kodama won first prize in the trumpet division of the 39th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition, becoming the youngest first-prize winner across all categories in its history, and also received the Minister of Education Award, the Governor of Tokyo Award and the Special Grand Prize (Prime Minister’s Award). In 2025, Kodama won gold at the sixth Vienna International Music Competition and fifth prize at the third Kodaly International Music Competition.
