Tokiko Kato

Tokiko Kato is a Japanese singer, songwriter and actor born in Harbin in 1943. While studying at the University of Tokyo, she won the second Japan Amateur Chanson Competition and debuted as a singer in 1965. “Akai Fusen” earned a Japan Record Award newcomer prize, while “Hitorine no Komoriuta” and “Shiretoko Ryojo” became million-selling songs. She also acted in the film “Izakaya Choji” and voiced and sang for Madame Gina in Hayao Miyazaki’s “Porco Rosso.”
