About Joaquín Achúcarro
Joaquín Achúcarro is a Spanish pianist born in Bilbao in 1932 who studied in Madrid, Paris, Vienna and Salzburg. Victory at the 1959 Liverpool International Competition and a subsequent debut with the London Symphony Orchestra launched his international career. Since 1989 he has held the Joel Estes Tate Chair in piano at Southern Methodist University.
