About IRUKA
IRUKA is a Japanese folk singer-songwriter. Her official site and Japan Crown profile state that she was born in Tokyo, formed a folk group while studying at Joshibi University of Art and Design, performed with Shrieks, and made her solo debut in 1974. Her 1975 recording of “Nagoriyuki” became a major hit. She has continued national touring, broadcasting, writing and environmental work, and has served as an IUCN Goodwill Ambassador since 2004.
