Dang Thai Son

Dang Thai Son is a Vietnamese-Canadian classical pianist born in Hanoi. He began studying piano with his mother before continuing at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Vladimir Natanson and Dmitri Bashkirov. In 1980 he won First Prize and the Gold Medal at the 10th International Chopin Piano Competition, becoming the first Asian pianist to win a leading international piano competition. His concert career has since taken him to more than forty countries.
