Balkan Chamber Orchestra

The Balkan Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2007 by Japanese conductor Toshio Yanagisawa to encourage shared prosperity and understanding among the Balkan nations. In 2009, musicians from different ethnic communities gave a commemorative concert in Mitrovica, the first such gathering there after the Kosovo conflict. The orchestra has since performed in cities including Vienna, Sarajevo, Belgrade, Geneva, New York and Tokyo, serving as a cultural bridge across national boundaries.
