Yasushi Abe

Yasushi Abe is a Japanese chorus master and conductor. He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, studied conducting with Nobuaki Tanaka and Tsuyoshi Kitagawa, and studied voice with Mutsumichi Shibata and Shigeo Harada. His career has centred on preparing choirs for large-scale orchestral and stage works, including collaborations with conductors Hiroshi Ishimaru, Ken-ichiro Kobayashi and Giuseppe Sinopoli. He has travelled with Japanese ensembles to Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands, taught at Tokyo College of Music and Tokyo University of the Arts, and has continued to work with choirs including the Gunma Symphony Orchestra Choir.
